"Luck" and "Responsibility"

"luck"
Like some 50/50 mix engine that hasn't run in 10 years, and started for the first time with no trouble, I had two strokes of luck last night.  First, I took a wrong turn and ended up at the end of a dead end street by a quarry.  As I was turning around, what to my wondering eyes should appear, but a large piece of metal and eight tiny accesories.  It was a discarded, yet intact and functional grill.  Just a week before, the roommate and I were discussing the possiblility of buying such an accoutrement for the backyard.  Well, now we have one, and tonight's the maiden voyage.  On the return trip from loading the grill, I saw a coyote running up the street with a limp cat in mouth.  An auspicious night having nothing to do with the 90% gibbous overhead.

"responsibility"
Today, for the first time in grad school, I blew off class to do something fun.  I went surfing.  It was unbelievably cold and the breaks were pretty small.  A website that gives surf conditions for places gave this place a "poor+" this morning.  Still, it was worth getting up at 6 to go to the beach.  You should consider taking such a day for yourself every once in a while.
