Yes, on this blue and green speck traveling around the sun, I now own a piece that is forever mine (unless I sell it) on the Isle of Islay, UK.
It's a delightfully verdant location by a river near the Laphroaig distillery. I pay no taxes on it, nor will I be required to. It is my option to charge land rent if I desire, but I think the tax implications of that appear to be prohibitive. I will most likely leave it for future generations, or as some vacation spot should I end up anywhere near the Isle of Islay.
Mood: very happy.
