Wall-E Review

I saw Wall-E this weekend, and should disclaim that I fell asleep twice while watching it, so any criticism I have may be unfounded based on my likely missing a few crucial plot points.

Here's my short review:
The animation was outstanding and no detail was spared. All of the characters were likable, even the cadre of sedentary humans who were remarkably similar to what we could imagine, given the circumstances. I even liked the jabs at big box retailers. The corporation that ran everything ("BuyNLarge")shamelessly lampoons the biggest chains around to nice effect. One of the most joyful things about Pixar films is that they are made for children, and you get to engage that sensibility in yourself as you watch it, while furthering your respect for the film as you catch the tip of the hat to "grown-ups" too. This, unfortunately was not a child's movie, and that's why I think it fell a little flat. You will see worse movies this year, but you'll probably also see better ones. I say this is just above average, mainly because of how beautifully rendered it is.
