I applied and was accepted to a program at stanford and I got a special invitation. Possibly one of the strangest invitations I've received. Here's a fun copy paste from it:
"You're invited to a reception for speakers, press, and some of the attendees the night before [program name]. There will be enough food to make dinner of it, and probably a lot of people you'd be interested to talk to. There will also be large metal robots."
Wow. LARGE. METAL. ROBOTS.

I don't think that invite was as big of a deal as the invite I received from your girlfriend to join the prestigious G(gansta)mail group.
